Exiting the subway at an unfamiliar stop? Instead of accidentally walking a block in the wrong direction to orient yourself, launch the Uptown app even before youre outside and youll know which way youre headed as soon as you step out onto the street.
Since it doesnt utilize the GPS or have to connect to the network youll experience no delay in getting your bearings. Launch the app just as youre exiting the subway and the compass will be ready to go.
Not just for NYC — when youre off the grid in Brooklyn (or Queens, California, Berlin or beyond), just tap the arrow button to alternate between Magnetic North and Manhattans Uptown/Downtown. Whether you live in NYC or if youre just here for travel, both locals and tourists alike will find Uptown to be a useful navigation tool.
Requires at least the 3Gs for its built in magnetometer.
